Her brown eyes gaze upward.
"It's not a cloud, Mummy. It's a white rainbow."
And I know what to do.
I give her a hug, a big one.
And I write it:
If I get caught in the fog again,
I'm not going to see clouds.
I choose to see a special kind of rainbow.

I love the way children see things.
Thomas Alva Edison: "The greatest invention in the world is the mind of a child."
Indeed, it is.
That is beautiful - I will try to remember that myself!
Sweet.
Funny I see a lady diving into a swimming pool, I would much prefer the white rainbow.
A white rainbow - I love it :)
I love this! (:
What a wonderful way of looking at a cloud. Love it!! :)
Last summer we were driving down the road and, upon seeing a sky-writer, my neice very matter-of-factly said, "I told you that's how they made clouds." I was confused because we had never had a conversation about clouds. I asked her to explain and she went into the "facts" according to her. It was greatness. Thank you for sharing your memory and reminding me to embrace the minds of our children.
So cute! I wish I could go back and see the things through the eyes of a child - truly amazing sometimes.
I like how you said you will CHOOSE to see a special kind of rainbow. Isn't it a great way to look at the world?
oh my gosh i almost cried reading this.
I love it when my kids make me see something else than what you are "supposed" to see. Neat post.
Love these moments where you suddenly see the world through a child's eyes. Thank you Abbey for showing us your beautiful white rainbow. :)
